DALLAS, Texas (1080 KRLD) – A Dallas middle school was vandalized recently and officials believe it may be over a former teacher/coach.

School officials discovered spray-painted profanity on the outside walls of  Sarah Zumwalt Middle School in south Dallas recently. They say the perpetrators were careful in covering their tracks because even the security camera was sprayed to hide the crime.

The display of anger was also taken inside the building when it was discovered that feces had been smeared on the walls of one of the bathrooms.

Rena Honea with the teacher’s union Alliance-AFT says that following the recent activities, some teachers, students and parents are afraid.

She says some students were likely upset after a popular coach was let go when some certification requirements were not met. She also says it’s time to get the parents involved.

A DISD spokesperson says all the graffiti has since been removed.

They also issued this statement in response: “The safety and well-being of our students and staff is always our top priority. School staff, Dallas ISD police and administrators are continuing to closely monitor Sarah Zumwalt Middle School. We take this situation very seriously and will do everything in our power to maintain a safe and healthy school environment.”
